Delete your account
In the app
Open Settings, tap Delete account, then confirm. This works the same in the browser version. Your account and everything in it are deleted from our server straight away, and you are signed out.
By email
No longer have the app? You can also ask by email:
- Write to privacy@haveagander.app with the subject Delete my account.
- Send it from the email address of the Google account you sign in with. If you write from another address, we will ask you to confirm it is you.
- We delete the account within one month at the latest, usually within a few days, and email you when it is done.
What is deleted
- Your account: name, email address, profile picture link, invite code and the link to your Google account
- Every sign-in session, so you are signed out on every device
- All your ratings, with their details, and your watchlist
- The titles you swiped away
- Your friendships, so you disappear from your friends’ lists, and the titles and notes you sent or received
- Your votes, and the movie nights you hosted, for everyone in them
- Reports you made, and reports made about your account. A report about a note you sent stays, no longer linked to you.
What stays for a while, and why
- Database recovery history. Cloudflare keeps the means to restore the database to an earlier moment, up to 30 days back. After at most 30 days, your data is gone from it too.
- Our email conversation about your request, kept for up to two years so we can show we handled it.
- Daily usage counters that hold your account ID, for up to 2 days.
- On other devices you used, a few settings such as your theme stay until you uninstall the app there. On the device you delete from, they are cleared.
Signed in with Google?
Deleting your account removes what we hold. To also remove Have a Gander from the apps that can use your Google sign-in, go to your Google account’s third-party connections and remove it there.
